Places For Dates

Singles often ask, "What are good places to take a date?" So for this weeks dating tips, here are some helpful and creative suggestions that should suit any budget... MUSEUMS Museums are always a fun place to go where you can share conversation and a cultural experience. The singles I asked, particularly recommended the following: METROPOLITAN MUSUEM OF ART 80th Street and 5th Ave. Open Sat evening until 9pm (you can still get 2 hours in and have a pizza after) Sunday 9:30 - 5:30 pm - pay what you wish. Sculptures, paintings and special changing exhibits...cafeteria area to sit and have a beverage. FRICK COLLECTION 70th St. and 5th Ave. Open Sunday 1-6 PM Special clock exhibit as well as furniture, sculpture and paintings. Very beautiful and moving. AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY/HAYDEN PLANETARIUM 79th St. and CPW Open 10am to 5:45 pm Always a great time. MUSEUM OF MODERN ART-MOMA 53rd St between 5-6th Ave check times due to construction. Films, lectures, famous paintings of Monet, Cezanne and Pollack. Currently featuring optical and spatial exhibit. HOTEL LOBBIES AND LOUNGES Hotel lobbies and lounges can be an interesting and comfortable place to sit and get acquainted. Russell Reich, a Hineni-ite, and man of great taste, highly recommends the following: ALGONQUIN HOTEL 44th St and 5-6th Ave. Old world charm - a bit musty but filled with history. Quiet. HUDSON HOTEL 58th St. between 8-9th Ave. Ultra chic - Great garden with an Alice in Wonderland theme in the summer. Be sure to check out the amazing restrooms. GRAND CENTRAL STATION - THE CAMBELL APARTMENT Southeast corner of Grand Central Station. A millionaire once used this for his office and later on was used as a dention center. Renovated back to its glory and is a sitting area and lounge. Conde Nast Magazine lists it as one of the greatest bars in the world. MUSIC Percha Africk, another Hineni-ite, in the know, recommends after you know each other a bit and want to share a fun experience, hear some music at the CHARLES STREET SYNAGOGUE at west 4th St. and Charles St. Bluegrass music every Monday eve at 8pm $10, $6 if you`re a student. Jewish Klezmer music on Thursdays at 8pm. WALKS IN PARKS, ZOO`S BOTANICAL GARDENS are wonderful if weather permits. RESTAURANTS Check the Jewish Press Dining Guide, I recommend Darna and Esti Hani for great food and a pleasant dining experience. TORAH LECTURE Hineni Heritage Center 232 West End Ave Thursday 7:30 PM Kehilath Jeshurun 125 East 85th St. Tuesdays 7 pm My favorite date is going to Hineni!(yes I`m biased, but for good reason)Not only are you guaranteed a great time, but you can quickly see if you share the same values and goals. If you get excited and he can`t relate at all, that is telling you a lot. Great desserts and coffee served after lecture. I also recommend a mitzvah date. Visit a nursing home together, or share a special chesed project. It will bring you closer and invite G-d into the relationship. If you have any special date ideas or questions you would like to share with us, please write. We`d love to hear from you! Join our free computer databse of over 2,000 singles every Tuesday night at 7pm at Kehillat Jeshurun 125 E. 85th St. May all your dating experiences be good ones! See you at Hineni Phyllis
