The Power of Tzedakah

A stone is strong but iron can break it. Iron is strong but fire can soften it. Fire is strong but water extinguishes it. Water is strong but clouds carry it. Clouds are strong but wind can scatter it. Wind is strong but the body carries it. A body is strong but fear breaks it. Fear is strong but wine sedates it. Wine is strong but sleeps reduces its effect. Sleep which is 1/60 of death is strong but death is stronger than sleep. But in the merit of giving tzedakah - charity, a person is saved from death as it is written in the Book of Proverbs- "Tzedakah tazil memoves"- charity saves from death. Death is a natural phenomenon but charity is supernatural because it goes against human nature to give ones property to another.  "Talmud Bava Basra" Rabbi Yitzchok says if you give a small coin to a poor person you are blessed with six blessings, but if you also give words of comfort you are blessed with eleven blessings.  If you pursue opportunities of charity and kindness you will find life, charity and honor. May the Tzedakah and Chesed we do bring everyone much nachas and blessings

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Yis
